In 2010, Amy Pritchard went to Rwanda and found her second home. Overcome by the warmth and kindness of people, devastated by civil unrest - which led to the genocide and displacement of its people - Amy a long-time political activist, did what she’s done for decades, she looked for ways to help.
Her journey began by providing political trainings to the growing number of incredible, women candidates in the region, who wished to ensure a better, safer future for their countries. Like these women, Amy knew that lasting change in the region could only happen if their strength, resilience and nurturance had an equal voice in government. Years of war and conflict left them with few external resources, but their natural entrepreneurship and passion had only grown stronger.
While helping to rebuild the political foundation of these countries, Amy was struck by a more an immediate need in the region, that of it’s most vulnerable citizens - their children. In 20__, Amy met Monique ?, a political candidate, entrepreneur and “mother” to 70+ orphaned and displaced children. The war in Congo had left countless children alone and defenseless in a conflict zone. Monique knew she had to help. She set up a makeshift orphanage and with Amy’s help and patronage, provided them with a home, education and with love.
The idea of Global GAIN was born from these and countless other experiences that have impacted Amy’s heart and soul. While she’s given much to the region, she’s received so much more in return. Her goal, is to share this opportunity with others, while also providing more sustainable solutions to ensure the future of the many amazing people she’s met (and will meet) in the region she loves.
We hope that you too will have the opportunity to fall in love with and learn from this truly inspiring community. We invite you to join Amy on this journey by donating your time, money and/or voice to Global GAIN and the projects it supports.
